Omega ParadoX: a few Good Men

The computers were right, The Omega Commander realized, but wrong as well.. being limited in their responses. Omega was reacting defensively ,when it was time to go to war . And an Old cliché rose unbidden in his mind “ When in Doubt, attack” But Omega was being steered skillfully to go to war against it’s own country. That, He silently vowed to himself, will never happen.
“Omega Control- This is Alpha Prime , OP Aryan Nation is on Hold Indefinitely : Command override : authenticate Hotel-Foxtrot-Zulu-COBRA. My deputy will confirm”
Looking quizzically at him, His deputy Did, Alpha unity Concurs: Command Override ZULU-TANGO-NINER-FOXTROT-MAMBO.
The computers, smoothly as ever , acknowledged, “Omega control acknowledges , Op Aryan Nation is on T minus 17 and holding”
“ Command, You cannot hold 2 million warriors on combat alert indefinitely , so what are your intentions, Do I order a standdown?”
The Man in Black responded, ice cold, smoother than the computers, If that was possible “ that will not be necessary, Omega control, We need them for now “
“ Gentlemen, we have lost good men today, But going to war against my own country was never part of the plan.. And as long as I am commanding this outfit, that will never happen.” Looking at his 2IC, “ on the other hand, Nobody said we have to turn the other cheek..” a savage grin now “ I intend to find the Enemy, and then Vaporize it. No more , No less “.
“Given The nature of the leaks, The Omega council is involved . I want every member and their close relatives persuaded to visit us, and let’s see If anyone is missing”.

For the second time in 15 minutes, The Omega callsign pulsed out at the speed of light.. Shrieking it’s warning and it’s invitation .Overriding everything else in it’s path .. As omega teams moved to their designated targets, They had been assigned as protectors, but now would serve as executioners if need be.
The virtual conference was still in session.. The one he had left a lifetime ago..

A fraction of a second of hesitation.. And Omega clamped down on his own internal anger, as he realized the extent of betrayal..
The Old man’s eyes must have seen something on his face because sudden fear erupted In those eyes.

Omega took a minute to survey the table.. One field marshal, two Colonels who would have been generals if their Commanding officers had been halfway competent ,the Director general for Military ops, two wing commanders, one sailor rank unknown, even to him, a Motley group of politicians :All chosen for loyalty and Ability. He had one traitor, how many others , he wondered. With a mental shrug, he remembered he had to keep them talking Till the teams were in place.
“ Thank You for your concern, But it is quite unnecessary, I am not a medieval commander, leading cavalry charges from the saddle, but your conclusions are Illuminating, I must say” and watched as the strike went home.
So that was the enemy. Made things simpler, He thought. The man had underestimated Omega and feared for his kin, selling out to what he thought was the winning side. Who else, though?
